Roles & Responsibilities

Perform sonographic examinations of all body parts for diagnostic interpretation by radiologists
Exercise professional judgment applying principles of radiation protection
Maintain patient records and departmental quality assurance
Pursue continuing education and assist with invasive procedures
Consult with referring physicians and care for equipment
Rotate shifts as needed and assume departmental responsibility in supervisor's absence
Work across general, vascular, or cardiac ultrasound fields

Qualifications

Current ARDMS certification in one modality (ABD, OB/GYN, RVT, RDCS)
Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association
Ability to perform diagnostic exams in assigned modality
Experience with AB/OB ultrasound preferred

Education

Pursue continuing education to maintain RDMS certification requirements

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of growth and development principles across all patient ages from newborn to geriatric
Skills in diagnostic medical sonography for general, vascular, and cardiac ultrasound
Ability to assess patient status and provide age-appropriate care
Proficiency in patient transfer, record-keeping, and equipment maintenance
