Travel Registered Nurse - Cardiac PICU

Contract Type: Travel Contract
Shift Type: Night shift, 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM, 12-hour shifts; weekend rotation: 4 shifts per 4-week schedule
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $53 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, high-level critical care to pediatric congenital cardiac patients in a specialized 10-bed CICU
- Manage post-operative care including inotropic and vasopressor continuous infusions, IV fluids, and chest tube management
- Care for post-sternotomy and open chest patients, ensuring meticulous monitoring and support
- Collaborate with board-certified pediatric/congenital heart intensivists and a multidisciplinary team
- Administer moderate sedation and support patients and families through their congenital heart journey
- Utilize advanced equipment like CentriMag, Prismax, and Arctic Sun to support complex patients
- Participate in quality metrics, evidence-based practice, and prevention initiatives
Qualifications
- At least 2 years of Cardiac Critical Care experience required by the director
- Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications required
- Nice to have: peritoneal dialysis and CRRT skills
- ECMO bedside experience is preferred
- Flexible, organized, and a great communicator who loves to teach and resource
Knowledge & Skills
- In-depth knowledge of pediatric cardiac critical care and congenital heart conditions
- Proficiency in continuous inotropic and vasopressor infusion management
- Skilled in chest tube and post-sternotomy/open chest care
- Experience with moderate sedation administration
- Familiarity with Phillips monitors, Medfusion and Baxter pumps, and Meditech EMR
- Understanding of ECMO, CRRT, and peritoneal dialysis preferred
- Comfort using advanced equipment like CentriMag, Prismax, and Arctic Sun
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
