Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform scrub duties and maintain a sterile field to ensure patient safety during procedures
• Assist nursing and the surgical team in preparation and intraoperative patient care
• Support emergency procedures as well as elective and scheduled surgical cases
• Prepare, transport, and supervise patients to and from the operating room with compassion
• Set up instruments, equipment and sterile supplies; anticipate surgeon needs during cases
• Participate in robotics-assisted and specialty cases when applicable
• Maintain current education and competency in operating room practices and patient care
• Communicate clearly with team members to promote efficient, safe surgical workflows

Qualifications

• 2+ years of Surgical Technologist experience (required)
• Proven proficiency in Orthopedic surgery: total joints, hip fractures, arthroscopy, ORIFs, shoulder scopes and replacements (required)
• Vascular surgery proficiency (required)
• Neurosurgery proficiency (required)
• Completed 2+ travel assignments (required) and at least one successful assignment with your agency
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification (required)
• Skills checklist current to within 1 year and detailed work history (required)
• Two supervisory references with dates of employment (required)
• Applicants must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; facility will verify permanent address
• Applicants who were direct employees of the facility within the last 2 years are not eligible

Education

• Active BLS (AHA) certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Expert scrub technique and instrument handling in the OR
• Familiarity with orthopedic, vascular and neurosurgical procedures
• Experience with robotics in the surgical environment
• Patient preparation, transport and intraoperative supervision skills
• Strong teamwork, communication and situational awareness
• Comfortable using Cerner EMR for documentation (facility EMR)
• Ability to perform well in fast-paced, high-acuity surgical settings
