Shift Type: Rotating 12-hour shifts: Days 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, Evenings 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, Nights 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM; primary assignment includes 12-hour nights (11:00 PM - 7:00 AM) with call required (1x/week weekdays, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM) and 8-hour weekend call coverage as one of the three shifts; every-other-weekend (EOW) requirement noted.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the operating room and surgical instruments to ensure sterile, efficient procedures
• Assist surgeons and surgical team during cases by anticipating needs and passing instruments accurately and safely
• Perform instrument counts and document surgical activity to maintain patient safety and compliance
• Collaborate with perioperative staff—nursing, anesthesia, and techs—to coordinate patient flow and case setup
• Maintain and troubleshoot OR equipment and charting in Cerner to support accurate patient records
• Respond to trauma and emergent cases with calm, decisive action to support the surgical team

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) via NBSTSA required (or eligible)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of OR experience preferred (trauma, ortho, vascular, or general surgery experience a strong plus)
• Comfortable working rotating 12-hour shifts including nights and weekend call
• Familiarity with Cerner charting system preferred
• Active license/credentials as required by facility and ability to submit documentation

Education

• Formal surgical technologist training and CST certification (NBSTSA) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong knowledge of sterile technique and OR workflow
• Experience with trauma, orthopedics, vascular, and general surgery cases
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic charting systems
• Excellent instrument identification and surgical setup skills
• Effective communication and teamwork in fast-paced acute care settings
• Ability to manage counts and documentation accurately under pressure
