Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert bedside care for neonates, including preemies at or above 28 weeks
• Manage respiratory care for intubated and ventilated infants, including ventilator adjustments and monitoring
• Perform and manage central line care and other invasive devices with strict infection prevention
• Lead neonatal resuscitation efforts as needed following NRP protocols
• Document patient care accurately in CPN and Meditech to ensure seamless care continuity
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to develop and execute care plans
• Educate and support families through critical and delicate moments, delivering compassionate communication
• Adhere to unit guidelines, safety policies, and hospital procedures while promoting best practices

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state of assignment) and current BLS certification
• Current NRP certification required
• Minimum 1 year of Level III NICU experience (patient ratios and high-acuity care)
• Hands-on experience with preemie care (28 weeks and above), central line management, and respiratory management up to and including intubated patients
• Experience with ventilator management, Bubble CPAP, oscillators, and related neonatal equipment
• Proficiency with documentation systems such as CPN and Meditech

Knowledge & Skills

• Neonatal resuscitation and stabilization (NRP)
• Ventilator and respiratory management for neonates, including intubated patients
• Central line care and maintenance
• Familiarity with neonatal equipment: warmers, isolettes, IV pumps, NIRS, oscillators
• Strong assessment skills for high-acuity neonatal patients
• Effective family-centered communication and education
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary Level III NICU environment
