Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality respiratory care and life-support interventions to patients across age groups
• Manage mechanical ventilators, oxygen therapy, and airway support with precision
• Perform and interpret arterial blood gases and adjust therapy accordingly
• Lead and participate in neonatal resuscitation (NRP) and emergency response as needed
• Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and the care team to optimize patient outcomes
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress accurately in the medical record
• Maintain required certifications and ensure all compliance documentation is current
• Uphold facility policies, including a strict attendance standard to ensure reliable patient coverage

Qualifications

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) — required
• Minimum 2 years of RRT experience — required
• Active Michigan state license at time of submission — required
• BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), and NRP — required and current
• Travel experience — preferred
• Willingness to comply with facility attendance policy (three-strike policy effective 2024-06-01)

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on ventilator management and non-invasive ventilation strategies
• Arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and interpretation
• Neonatal resuscitation and pediatric respiratory support skills
• Strong emergency response and airway management techniques
• Clear patient and family education skills with compassionate communication
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and clinical documentation
• Infection control best practices and safety-focused care delivery
