Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough patient assessments, triage, and initial evaluations for urgent care patients of all ages
• Provide timely nursing interventions including IV initiation, medication administration, and monitoring
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient education clearly and professionally in the medical record
• Coordinate care and referrals, tracking outcomes and communicating status to providers
• Deliver telephone triage and follow-up calls with clear, compassionate guidance
• Maintain infection control, stock, and safe clinical environments
• Participate in team improvement efforts, quality initiatives, and clinical competency maintenance
• Serve as a point of contact for care coordination and assist with vaccine coordination as needed

Qualifications

• Current, full, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alaska or another U.S. state required (Direct hires must have applied for Alaska license before start; agency staff must have an active Alaska license)
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and eligible to take the NCLEX
• Minimum 2 years of general nursing experience with at least 1 year in ambulatory or urgent care
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred
• Clinical Competency and High Risk Competency to be completed within required timelines
• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift/move up to 50 lbs, and work in a fast-paced urgent care setting

Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (eligible for NCLEX)
• High school diploma or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Patient assessment, prioritization, and triage expertise
• IV therapy skills including insertion, maintenance, and infusion monitoring
• Medication administration via oral, topical, IM, SQ, intradermal and IV routes
• Strong clinical documentation and charting skills
• Infection control principles and clinic safety practices
• Excellent oral and written communication, customer service, and teamwork
• Familiarity with EMR systems and referral tracking processes
• Critical thinking, multitasking, and time-management in urgent situations
