Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care to patients undergoing cardiac surgery, including post-operative monitoring and recovery
• Assess and continuously monitor patients' cardiac status, interpret telemetry, and respond promptly to changes in condition
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and comfort
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of surgeons, physicians, and specialists to develop and implement individualized care plans
• Educate patients and their families on post-surgical care, recovery processes, and cardiac health management

Qualifications

• Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa (or compact state)
• BLS, ACLS, TNCC, and NIHSS certifications required
• Experience in surgical cardiac or critical care nursing preferred
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts, including every other weekend and holidays

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong cardiac assessment and monitoring skills
• Knowledge of cardiac surgical procedures and post-operative complications
• Proficiency in administering cardiac medications and IV therapies
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to remain calm and make critical decisions in high-pressure situations
