Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor telemetry and cardiac rhythms vigilantly, responding quickly to changes in patient condition
• Provide expert post-operative and trauma care for surgical patients across a range of specialties
• Manage and titrate IV medications and drips safely and accurately
• Perform thorough patient assessments and reassessments (vitals q4 and as needed)
• Document care clearly and efficiently in Meditech EMR to keep the team informed
• Collaborate with physicians, techs, and ancillary staff to coordinate exceptional patient care
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, procedures, and discharge plans with empathy
• Maintain unit safety and quality standards while adapting to changing priorities in a busy trauma center

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse license (appropriate for practice in the assignment location)
• Minimum 1 year of clinical nursing experience (PCU/telemetry or acute care experience preferred)
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications and NIH Stroke Scale competency (listed as must-haves)
• Demonstrated experience with telemetry monitoring, cardiac monitoring and IV medication management
• Comfort caring for post-operative, trauma, and cardiac patients
• Meditech EMR experience preferred
• Strong communication skills, teamwork mindset, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• IV medication and drip management (including common cardiac drips and heparin)
• Post-operative and trauma patient care
• Patient assessment and reassessment (including vitals q4)
• Familiarity with Meditech electronic medical record
• Ability to manage patients with neurological, cardiac and respiratory diagnoses
• Customer-service oriented patient/family interaction and interdisciplinary communication
