Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality perioperative nursing care in the operating room for trauma and surgical patients
• Respond quickly and effectively as part of the team for level 1 trauma activations
• Manage patient care throughout the perioperative period, including pre-op prep, intra-op assistance, and post-op handoff
• Maintain sterile technique and OR safety standards to protect patients and staff
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary team members to deliver coordinated care
• Participate in call rotations, weekend and holiday coverage, and ensure reliable coverage when scheduled
• Demonstrate and maintain competency through skills checklist performance and ongoing professional development
• Document patient care accurately and communicate critical information in a timely manner

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Georgia preferred or compact-state equivalent)
• Operating Room (OR) experience with strong perioperative skills
• Level 1 trauma experience required
• Previous travel experience required (per job notes)
• High rating on skills checklist or demonstrated competency during skills validation
• Availability for call coverage, weekends, and holidays
• Burn experience preferred
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced certifications (e.g., ACLS) preferred per facility

Education

• Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; diploma considered with strong OR experience

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong perioperative nursing knowledge and sterile technique
• Trauma-focused assessment and rapid response skills
• Proficiency in OR instrumentation and surgical workflow
• Ability to perform under pressure during high-acuity cases
• Excellent communication and teamwork in multidisciplinary environments
• Reliable documentation and handoff skills
• Adaptability to varying schedules, call shifts, and holiday coverage
