Roles & Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional, evidence-based nursing care to critically ill patients in the Medical Surgical ICU
- Monitor and assess patient conditions, detecting subtle changes and responding quickly
- Administer medications, titrate drips, and perform advanced interventions as ordered
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and adjust individualized care plans
- Educate and support patients and their families during challenging health journeys
- Participate in code responses and emergency situations with confidence and skill
Qualifications
- Current and unencumbered RN license in Connecticut or a compact state
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications
- Strong critical care background with recent ICU experience
- Open heart experience is a plus, but not required
- Ability to think quickly and remain calm in high-pressure situations
Knowledge & Skills
- Deep understanding of critical care protocols and monitoring equipment
- Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) documentation
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Compassion and empathy when caring for patients and families
