Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients on a Med/Surg/Tele unit, monitoring cardiac rhythms and responding quickly to changes in patient status.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments as prescribed, ensuring patient safety and comfort at all times.
• Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and the interdisciplinary care team to develop and update individualized care plans.
• Educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and post-discharge care to promote positive outcomes.
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the electronic health record.
• Maintain a calm, compassionate presence while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Iowa or a compact state (license verification required).
• Current BLS, ACLS, TNCC, and NIHSS certifications.
• Previous med/surg and/or telemetry experience is a plus, but new graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Ability to work 12.5-hour day shifts, including every third weekend and every other holiday.

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong foundation in med/surg nursing and telemetry monitoring.
• Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation and recognizing arrhythmias.
• Skilled in patient assessment, medication administration, and IV therapy.
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Familiarity with electronic health records and documentation standards.
