Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity MedSurg telemetry nursing care for oncology and specialty patients with compassion and clinical excellence
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmias, responding quickly and appropriately
• Administer and monitor chemotherapy and other oncology treatments when assigned, following safety protocols
• Participate in Rapid Response and Code teams, contributing to emergency assessment and interventions
• Manage IV therapy, central lines/PICC lines, blood product administration and complex medication regimens
• Implement infection prevention protocols and fall-prevention strategies to keep patients safe
• Document patient care accurately and timely in Epic to ensure continuity and quality of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (pharmacy, respiratory, PT, social work, etc.) to support holistic patient care
• Educate patients and families on care plans, device management (trach, feeding tubes), and post-discharge needs

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of recent high-acuity MedSurg Telemetry experience (must meet within the last 3 years; at least 1 year current specialty experience for clinical pass)
• Travel experience required
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required; NIHSS required
• Oncology certifications (OCN, ONS/ONCC) preferred but not required
• Proven ability to float across MedSurg, PCU and specialty oncology units (BMT, leukemia, hematology, surgical oncology, etc.)
• Comfortable with telemetry monitoring, rapid response participation, and high-acuity patient ratios
• Proficient charting experience in Epic

Education

• Active RN licensure in the state of practice (required)
• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry and cardiac monitoring including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• High-acuity MedSurg skills including IV therapy, central line/PICC care, blood product administration
• Chemotherapy administration and monitoring (preferred)
• Infection prevention protocols and isolation precautions/PPE
• Respiratory support skills: HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP, tracheostomy and chest tube care
• Emergency response: Rapid Response/Code team participation
• Experience with Epic electronic health record
• Familiarity with insulin/IV insulin protocols, PCA management and common cardiac/drip medications
