Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered nursing care to a diverse Med/Surg population across five units, including medical oncology, surgical, ortho, and general medical patients.
• Manage a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio with total care responsibilities, ensuring each patient's physical, emotional, and educational needs are met.
• Collaborate with charge nurses, respiratory therapists, and the healthcare team to deliver safe, evidence-based care.
• Float seamlessly to any Med/Surg pod to ensure staffing coverage and maintain continuity of care.
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in Cerner/EPIC electronic health records.
• Monitor patients for changes in condition, including occasional rhythm strip reading, and respond promptly to emergencies.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Arkansas (or compact state) - license to submit required.
• Minimum 2 years of current medical/surgical nursing experience.
• Current BLS certification through AHA.
• Experience with Cerner and/or EPIC charting systems.
• Ability to float across multiple Med/Surg units and adapt quickly.
• Total care experience without PCA support is a plus.

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Expertise in caring for surgical patients (colorectal, hepatobiliary, bariatric, ortho) and medical conditions (diabetes, heart disease, COPD, renal/GI).
• Knowledge of remote tele monitoring and basic tele strip reading.
• Comfortable with EPIC/Cerner EHR systems.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Flexible and resilient in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
