Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Monday-Friday, 8-hour day shifts; flexible start, must arrive by 8:30 AM

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $91 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate infection prevention activities across the entire hospital, including inpatient, ED, surgery, procedural, and ambulatory areas
  • Perform device rounding and Environment of Care (EOC) rounding to identify and mitigate infection risks
  • Conduct surveillance for healthcare-associated infections, including SSI surveillance and communicable diseases
  • Collaborate with the Quality Department and Regional Infection Prevention leader to implement best practices
  • Provide education and orientation to new staff on infection control protocols
  • Participate in daily safety huddles and rounding to promote a culture of safety

Qualifications

  • Active Certified in Infection Control (CIC) certification required
  • BLS (AHA) certification required
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, public health, epidemiology, medical technology, or other healthcare-related field (BSN preferred)
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in infection control or a related healthcare setting
  • Previous leadership experience preferred
  • Experience with Epic EMR (Bugsy) is a plus

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, public health, epidemiology, medical technology program, or other healthcare related field

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of infection prevention and control practices, including device rounding and EOC rounding
  • Expertise in surveillance for healthcare-associated and device-related infections
  • Ability to work independently as the sole infection preventionist initially
  • Proficiency with Epic EMR (Bugsy) charting system
  • Excellent communication and teaching skills for orienting new staff
  • Leadership capabilities to guide future department growth
