Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to patients in the emergency department
• Triage patients efficiently and prioritize care based on acuity
• Administer medications, IVs, and treatments per physician orders
• Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and the care team to develop and implement care plans
• Monitor vital signs and patient status, intervening quickly in emergent situations
• Document accurate patient assessments and interventions in the EHR
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment options, and discharge instructions
• Maintain a calm, organized, and safe environment during high-pressure situations

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Iowa or a compact state (license verification required)
• Current BLS, PALS, ACLS, TNCC, and NIHSS certifications
• Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Skills Checklist
• Ability to work 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM, every other weekend and holiday
• Previous emergency department experience strongly preferred
• Must meet all Trinity personal health history requirements, including immunizations and fit test

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong triage and critical thinking skills in fast-paced environments
• Knowledge of emergency nursing protocols, ACLS/PALS guidelines, and trauma care
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
• Proficient in EHR documentation and medication administration
• Ability to stay composed under pressure and adapt quickly
• Understanding of infection control and safety standards
