Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered emergency care across the lifespan
• Triage patients quickly and accurately to prioritize care in a fast-paced ED
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments per physician orders
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and specialists to create and implement care plans
• Closely monitor patients and respond rapidly to changes in condition
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes with precision
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge instructions
• Maintain a safe and organized environment while upholding infection control standards

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Iowa or a compact state
• Current BLS, PALS, ACLS, TNCC, and NIHSS certifications
• Completion of Trinity Specialty Specific Competency Testing and Skills Checklist
• Strong critical thinking and clinical judgment in emergent situations
• Ability to work every other weekend and every other holiday as part of a rotating schedule
• Previous emergency department experience is preferred but not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency nursing principles and evidence-based practices
• Patient triage, assessment, and stabilization
• ACLS and PALS protocols for adult and pediatric emergencies
• Trauma nursing care including TNCC guidelines
• NIHSS stroke assessment and intervention
• Medication administration, IV insertion, and wound care
• Rapid decision-making and problem-solving under pressure
• Effective communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) documentation
