Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) non-treatment exams with professionalism and care
• Conduct separation health assessments to support Veterans during transition
• Interview Veterans to obtain thorough, interview-based patient histories and symptom descriptions
• Perform focused physical assessments including range of motion and muscle strength testing
• Complete, document, and submit clear exam reports and required addendums in a timely manner
• Provide objective medical opinions and read diagnostics as needed to support evaluations
• Adhere to non-treatment exam scope — no prescribing or ongoing treatment

Qualifications

• Licensed Physician (MD or DO) eligible to practice in Illinois (state license required)
• Specialty in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Orthopedic Surgery, or General Medicine background
• Experience or comfort performing Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and separation assessments preferred
• Ability to perform interview-based exams and basic physical assessments (ROM, strength testing)
• Provider-owned office option: must have an operational office within 50 miles of the listed city if using this option
• Willingness to complete required VES onboarding and training prior to performing exams

Education

• Medical degree (MD or DO) — board certification or relevant specialty training preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in conducting interview-based clinical assessments
• Proficient with range of motion and muscle strength testing techniques
• Strong clinical documentation skills for exam reports and addendums
• Ability to formulate concise medical opinions from interview and exam findings
• Comfort interpreting basic diagnostics relevant to C&P and separation exams
• Familiarity with non-treatment, single-encounter examination workflow
