Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver expert post-anesthesia care to patients waking up from surgery and keep them safe, comfortable and stable
• Monitor vital signs, airway patency, pain levels and recovery progress with a sharp clinical eye
• Administer medications and manage post-operative pain with compassion and precision
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists and surgical teams for smooth patient handoffs
• Educate patients and families on what to expect during recovery and the next steps in their care
• Respond quickly and confidently to changes in patient condition, escalating concerns as needed
• Document assessments and interventions accurately so every detail of the patient story is captured

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
• Current BLS certification
• Current ACLS certification
• Hands-on PACU or post-anesthesia recovery experience
• Strong assessment skills and a calm head in fast moving recovery situations
• A team-first attitude and great communication with patients, families and colleagues

• PACU Experience Required

Knowledge & Skills

• PACU nursing and post-anesthesia recovery principles
• BLS and ACLS protocols
• Airway management, sedation monitoring and pain control
• EKG interpretation and basic pharmacology
• Critical thinking and rapid clinical decision making
• Patient and family education
• Electronic charting and accurate documentation
