Roles & Responsibilities

• Welcome and seat patients, making every visit feel calm and comfortable from the moment they walk in
• Assist the orthodontist chairside during exams, adjustments, and appliance placements
• Prepare and sterilize instruments and treatment trays to keep every procedure safe and smooth
• Take and develop dental radiographs and intraoral images as directed
• Fit and educate patients on braces, retainers, and other orthodontic appliances
• Keep treatment rooms stocked, organized, and ready for the next patient
• Document patient care accurately in the practice management system
• Guide patients and families through aftercare instructions with patience and a friendly smile

Qualifications

• Active Orthodontic Assisting certification (ortho certified is a must for this role)
• Dental Assisting experience, ideally in an orthodontic setting
• Current Maryland Dental Assistant credentials as required by the state
• Radiography certification or willingness to maintain current credentials
• Strong communication skills and a genuinely caring bedside manner
• Ability to thrive in a fast paced, team oriented clinical environment
• Reliable, detail oriented, and ready to jump in and help wherever needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Orthodontic Assisting techniques and chairside workflow
• Sterilization and infection control best practices
• Dental radiography and imaging basics
• Patient education around braces and retainers
• Practice management software and accurate charting
• Team communication and a positive, can-do attitude
