Roles & Responsibilities

  • Prepare treatment rooms and patients for orthodontic procedures, making sure everyone feels comfortable and informed
  • Assist the orthodontist during exams, bonding, adjustments, and appliance removals
  • Take and pour impressions, digital scans, and radiographs with accuracy and care
  • Educate patients and families on maintaining braces, aligners, retainers, and good oral hygiene
  • Sterilize instruments and maintain a clean, safe, and efficient clinical environment
  • Document treatment notes and patient information accurately in electronic health records

Qualifications

  • Orthodontic certification is required
  • Active Maryland dental assistant certification or eligibility as required by state regulations
  • Current CPR/BLS certification is a plus
  • Previous experience working chairside in an orthodontic setting is preferred
  • Compassionate and patient-focused with a positive attitude

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of orthodontic instruments, materials, and procedures
  • Skill in taking digital radiographs and orthodontic impressions
  • Strong communication and patient education abilities
  • Detail-oriented with excellent infection control practices
  • Ability to anticipate the orthodontist's needs and work efficiently as a team
