Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms and patients for orthodontic procedures, making sure everyone feels comfortable and informed
- Assist the orthodontist during exams, bonding, adjustments, and appliance removals
- Take and pour impressions, digital scans, and radiographs with accuracy and care
- Educate patients and families on maintaining braces, aligners, retainers, and good oral hygiene
- Sterilize instruments and maintain a clean, safe, and efficient clinical environment
- Document treatment notes and patient information accurately in electronic health records
Qualifications
- Orthodontic certification is required
- Active Maryland dental assistant certification or eligibility as required by state regulations
- Current CPR/BLS certification is a plus
- Previous experience working chairside in an orthodontic setting is preferred
- Compassionate and patient-focused with a positive attitude
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of orthodontic instruments, materials, and procedures
- Skill in taking digital radiographs and orthodontic impressions
- Strong communication and patient education abilities
- Detail-oriented with excellent infection control practices
- Ability to anticipate the orthodontist's needs and work efficiently as a team
