Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the orthodontist during examinations and procedures, making every patient feel at ease
- Prepare operatories and sterilize instruments to maintain a safe, hygienic environment
- Take and process dental X-rays with precision and care
- Help manage the flow of the clinic, from seating patients to updating treatment records in Denticon
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and orthodontic care following their treatment
- Ensure all treatment suite tools and supplies are stocked and ready for each procedure
Qualifications
- Maryland Dental Assistant certification or ability to meet state requirements
- Previous experience as an Orthodontic Assistant or strong interest in orthodontics
- Current dental X-ray certification or willingness to obtain it
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced yet patient-focused environment
- Excellent people skills with a warm, empathetic chairside manner
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of orthodontic instruments, procedures, and materials
- Familiarity with Denticon dental practice management software
- Understanding of infection control and sterilization best practices
- Strong documentation skills for precise patient records
- Ability to multitask while staying organized and detail-oriented
