Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide chairside assistance to orthodontists during patient exams and procedures
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments to maintain a clean and safe environment
- Take dental radiographs and digital scans as directed by the provider
- Assist with braces, aligner and retainer adjustments while helping patients feel comfortable
- Educate patients and families on proper oral hygiene and post-treatment care
- Keep patient charts accurate and support the team with scheduling and documentation
- Manage dental supplies and equipment to ensure smooth daily operations
Qualifications
- Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or willingness to obtain certification
- Maryland radiography or X-ray certification preferred
- Current BLS or CPR certification is a plus
- Prior orthodontic or dental assistant experience is nice to have, but new grads are welcome
- Excellent communication and a warm, caring approach to patient care
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced orthodontic practice
Knowledge & Skills
- Working knowledge of dental instruments, orthodontic appliances and infection control
- Skilled in taking impressions, digital radiographs and intraoral photos
- Comfortable using dental practice management software such as Denticon
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask and adapt quickly in a team environment
- Flexible and reliable with a can-do attitude
