Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist chairside during exams, adjustments, and appliance placements
• Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments to ensure a safe, infection-free environment
• Take digital and traditional radiographs with attention to patient comfort and safety
• Educate patients on oral hygiene and orthodontic care to inspire healthy smiles
• Maintain accurate patient records and support smooth daily clinic flow
• Anticipate the needs of the care team and help patients feel confident and comfortable

Qualifications

• Maryland Dental Assistant certification/licensure (RDA) or ability to obtain before start
• Certification in Dental Radiology or willingness to become certified
• CPR/BLS certification preferred
• Experience in orthodontics or a strong desire to grow in this specialty
• A caring, detail-focused approach and genuine love for patient interaction

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong working knowledge of orthodontic instruments, bands, brackets, and wires
• Excellent communication skills for chatting with patients and families
• Understanding of dental terminology and chairside assisting techniques
• Proficiency in infection control and sterilization best practices
• Ability to stay organized and adapt when the schedule gets busy
