Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist orthodontists during patient examinations and procedures by preparing patients and equipment
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments while maintaining strict infection control standards
- Take and develop dental X-rays as needed
- Provide patients with oral hygiene instructions and post-operative care guidance
- Maintain accurate patient records and assist with appointment scheduling
- Keep the treatment room well-stocked, organized, and ready for each patient
- Support a positive, comfortable patient experience with a warm and caring attitude
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited dental assisting program
- Orthodontic certification required
- Current radiography (X-ray) certification in the state of Maryland
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a dental care team
- Prior experience in orthodontic assisting is a bonus
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of dental terminology and procedures
- Proficiency with dental software and patient management systems
- Understanding of infection control and sterilization techniques
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
- Attention to detail for accurate patient records
- Empathy and a patient-first approach
