Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide trauma-focused assessments and hands-on inpatient care for adult trauma patients
• Manage trauma alerts across all ages in the ED and admit patients aged 16 and older
• Work autonomously on the trauma service while coordinating closely with in-house trauma surgeons available 24/7
• Deliver critical-care level management on the trauma service (not limited to ED exposure)
• Document thoroughly and efficiently in Epic to support continuity of care
• Coordinate transfers for pediatric patients (peds are transferred out) and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
• Adhere to institutional policies and participate in quality and process improvement related to trauma care

Qualifications

• Active NP or PA credential (NP or PA candidates accepted)
• Demonstrated experience working on a trauma service with trauma surgeons as the admitting service (not just ED exposure)
• Critical care experience suitable for trauma patient management
• Comfortable working autonomously while utilizing surgeon backup available 24/7
• Willing and able to work weekend day and night shifts as a priority
• Able to complete credentialing process (typical timeframe: 90–120 days)

Education

• Graduate-level training and credentialing as an NP or PA (as applicable for licensure)

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on trauma care and adult critical care knowledge
• Familiarity with inpatient hospital workflows and trauma service lines
• Proficient with Epic EMR for inpatient documentation and orders
• Skilled at rapid assessment and stabilization during trauma alerts
• Strong communication and coordination with trauma surgeons and multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to prioritize high-acuity tasks and make autonomous clinical decisions
