Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Waldorf, Maryland
Start Date: 09-04-2026
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Day shift; 30-minute meal break)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $16 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate daily living assistance to residents, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Help residents with mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics to ensure safety
- Measure and record vital signs and report changes in condition to the nursing team
- Serve meals and assist residents who need help eating while encouraging independence
- Engage residents in conversation and activities to promote social and emotional well-being
- Keep resident rooms and common areas clean, tidy, and stocked with essentials
Qualifications
- Active Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification in Maryland
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a state-approved nursing assistant training program
- Prior experience in long-term care or skilled nursing is a plus
- Must meet facility vaccination requirements, including COVID-19 or have an approved exemption
Knowledge & Skills
- Genuine compassion and patience when caring for older adults
- Clear communication skills for interacting with residents, families, and staff
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative care team
- Strong attention to detail and observational skills
- Physical ability to stand, walk, lift, and assist with resident transfers
- Understanding of HIPAA and resident rights
