Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide chairside assistance during orthodontic examinations and procedures
- Prepare treatment rooms and ensure instruments are sterile and ready
- Assist with braces, aligner adjustments, and retainer fittings
- Take dental impressions, radiographs, and intraoral photos as directed
- Educate patients on oral hygiene and orthodontic care instructions
- Maintain accurate patient records and support smooth patient flow
Qualifications
- Orthodontic certification is required - must be ortho certified
- Experience in an orthodontic or dental setting is a plus
- Strong understanding of infection control and sterilization standards
- A caring, patient-focused approach with excellent communication skills
- Ability to meet Maryland dental assisting requirements as applicable
Knowledge & Skills
- Chairside assisting skills and dental terminology
- Knowledge of orthodontic instruments, materials, and procedures
- Organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfort with patient education and chairside manner
- Ability to collaborate effectively with the orthodontist and dental team
