Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare orthodontic treatment rooms and sterilize instruments for every patient
• Assist the orthodontist during procedures such as bands, brackets, wires, and impressions
• Take and develop dental x-rays while following all safety and infection control procedures
• Educate patients and parents on proper oral hygiene and post-treatment care
• Maintain accurate patient records, update charts, and support efficient patient flow
• Provide warm, encouraging chairside support to help patients feel at ease

Qualifications

• Must be orthodontic certified (ortho certification required)
• Current dental assistant certification or licensure as required by Maryland
• Previous orthodontic assisting experience is a plus
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred
• Strong patient communication skills and a positive, team-first attitude

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of orthodontic instruments, procedures, and terminology
• Experience with dental x-rays and digital impression systems
• Comfortable using dental practice management software
• Detail-oriented when updating treatment records
• Excellent interpersonal skills for engaging with patients of all ages
