Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide chairside assistance to the orthodontist during procedures, including braces, adjustments, and retainers
- Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and ensure all supplies are stocked
- Take dental X-rays, intraoral photos, and impressions to support orthodontic treatment planning
- Educate patients and parents about oral hygiene and orthodontic care
- Document treatment information and update patient records accurately
- Help create a welcoming, positive experience for every patient
Qualifications
- Active Dental Assistant certification or registration as required by Maryland
- Current CPR/BLS certification from AHA or similar accepted provider
- X-ray certification or ability to obtain prior to start
- Prior orthodontic experience is a plus, but we are happy to train the right candidate
- Comfort using dental software and quickly learning new tools
- Ability to stand for long periods and assist with patient positioning
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of orthodontic procedures, instruments, and sterilization techniques
- Familiarity with dental practice management software such as Denticon
- Radiography and digital X-ray skills
- Strong patient communication and chairside manner
- Organization, attention to detail, and ability to multitask
