Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide chairside assistance to the orthodontist during procedures, including braces, adjustments, and retainers
• Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and ensure all supplies are stocked
• Take dental X-rays, intraoral photos, and impressions to support orthodontic treatment planning
• Educate patients and parents about oral hygiene and orthodontic care
• Document treatment information and update patient records accurately
• Help create a welcoming, positive experience for every patient

Qualifications

• Active Dental Assistant certification or registration as required by Maryland
• Current CPR/BLS certification from AHA or similar accepted provider
• X-ray certification or ability to obtain prior to start
• Prior orthodontic experience is a plus, but we are happy to train the right candidate
• Comfort using dental software and quickly learning new tools
• Ability to stand for long periods and assist with patient positioning

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of orthodontic procedures, instruments, and sterilization techniques
• Familiarity with dental practice management software such as Denticon
• Radiography and digital X-ray skills
• Strong patient communication and chairside manner
• Organization, attention to detail, and ability to multitask
