Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) while preserving dignity and independence
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Observe and report changes in residents’ condition to nursing staff promptly and clearly
• Provide compassionate companionship and engage residents in meaningful activities
• Maintain accurate documentation of care and follow care plans closely
• Follow infection control, safety procedures, and facility policies to protect residents and staff
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure each resident’s needs are met
• Help maintain a clean, comfortable environment for residents

Qualifications

• GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
• Experience caring for older adults preferred, but compassion and a willingness to learn are essential
• Ability to communicate clearly with residents, families, and teammates
• Reliable, punctual, and able to follow care plans and facility procedures
• Current basic immunizations and ability to pass facility-required background checks (as per facility policy)

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Comfortable assisting with ADLs and mobility support
• Basic understanding of infection control and safety procedures
• Good observation skills and the ability to report changes accurately
• Strong interpersonal skills and patience when working with older adults
• Basic documentation and charting skills
