Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Lanham, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Per diem / Variable days, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM NOC (night shift)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $19 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
Provide compassionate bedside care and emotional support to geriatric patients
Monitor and document patient condition, reporting changes to nursing staff promptly
Help with safe transfers and use of mobility aids to prevent falls and injuries
Follow infection control and safety procedures to maintain a clean care environment
Communicate clearly and kindly with residents, families, and the interdisciplinary team

Qualifications

Current GNA certification (required)
CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
Ability to work overnight shifts and flexible per-diem schedule
Current state-required immunizations and clear background check
Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach

Education

High school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited GNA program

Knowledge & Skills

Skilled in geriatric personal care and basic clinical observations
Knowledge of ADLs, safe patient handling, and fall prevention
Proficient at clear, accurate documentation and charting
Able to follow care plans and escalate clinical concerns appropriately
Compassionate interpersonal skills for working with older adults and families
