Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Lanham, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Per diem (as-needed), days vary by week (may include weekdays and weekends), 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM NOC (night shift)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $18 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric patients during overnight hours
Support activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility assistance
Monitor patients and promptly report changes in condition to nursing staff
Accurately document care delivered and patient observations
Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to follow individualized care plans

Qualifications

Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification required
CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
Previous experience in long-term care, rehab, or similar settings is a plus
Ability to pass background check, TB screening, and any facility onboarding requirements
Strong communication skills and a patient-centered attitude
Physical ability to assist with transfers and mobility support

Education

High school diploma or GED
Completion of an accredited GNA program

Knowledge & Skills

Basic geriatric care principles and respectful elder interaction
Infection control and patient safety best practices
Charting and timely documentation habits
Safe patient lifting, transfer techniques, and fall prevention
Observation, reporting, and escalation skills
Teamwork, time management, and adaptability during night shifts
