Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with dignity and patience
• Take and record vital signs accurately and report changes to the nursing team
• Support mobility and safe transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Provide compassionate personal care, fostering independence and preserving resident dignity
• Document resident care and behaviors clearly and timely in the chart
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary team members
• Follow infection control practices and maintain a clean, safe environment
• Participate in team huddles and hand-offs to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• GNA / Geriatric Nursing Assistant certification (required)
• Current BLS/CPR certification (preferred or required per facility policy)
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and required immunizations
• Demonstrated compassion, patience, and strong interpersonal skills
• Basic documentation skills and comfort with electronic or paper charting
• Reliable attendance and the ability to work night shifts as scheduled

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a state-approved GNA program or equivalent certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) assistance
• Ability to take and recognize changes in vital signs
• Basic infection prevention and control practices
• Safe resident handling and transfer techniques
• Clear verbal and written communication skills
• Teamwork and the ability to follow care plans and nursing directions
• Familiarity with resident rights, privacy, and dignity principles
