Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) to promote resident dignity
• Assist with safe mobility, transfers, and positioning to reduce fall risk and improve comfort
• Take and record vital signs and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
• Support meal assistance and feeding when needed, following dietary guidelines and preferences
• Maintain a clean, safe environment; follow infection control and safety protocols
• Document care activities accurately and communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary team
• Build rapport with residents and families to create a warm, reassuring atmosphere

Qualifications

• Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) class/certification or equivalent (required)
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and required health screenings
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a team-first attitude
• Comfortable assisting with mobility and physical care tasks; able to follow safety/transfer protocols
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Completion of a Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) program or equivalent training

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and resident dignity
• Comfortable taking and recording vital signs accurately
• Familiarity with infection control practices and PPE use
• Good observational skills to notice changes in resident condition
• Ability to follow care plans and direction from licensed nursing staff
• Compassionate bedside manner and strong patience for working with older adults
