Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, respectful personal care to residents and prioritize their comfort
• Assist residents with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, and mobility
• Monitor resident condition and promptly communicate changes to nursing staff
• Support mealtime assistance and ensure dietary needs are followed
• Document care activities accurately and maintain resident confidentiality
• Help create a calm, safe environment and promote dignity in geriatric care
• Collaborate with the care team to follow care plans and resident preferences

Qualifications

• Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent in Maryland
• Comfort and experience working night shifts (11:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine interest in working with older adults
• Ability to pass standard background checks and required health screenings
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain upon hire
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently during assigned shifts

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an approved GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic geriatric care principles and ADL support
• Skill in safe resident handling and transfer techniques
• Clear communication with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Attention to detail for documenting care and following care plans
• Ability to respond calmly in urgent situations and escalate appropriately
• Respect for resident dignity, privacy, and cultural needs
