Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide clinical oversight for the Occupational Therapy department, ensuring high standards of care
• Supervise and mentor certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTAs) and Rehabilitation Technicians
• Coordinate and lead clinical education and competency assessments for OT staff
• Oversee policy and procedure related to scope of care, evaluation/treatment standards, discharge planning, and documentation
• Evaluate and treat patients (approximately 80% clinical time) with skilled, evidence-based interventions
• Lead program development initiatives and handle assigned administrative tasks (approximately 20% time)
• Ensure department compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and professional standards
• Promote clear, timely documentation and effective discharge planning to optimize patient transitions

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Occupational Therapy program approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (required)
• Currently licensed as an Occupational Therapist in the State of California (per State Practice Act) (required)
• Experience supervising COTAs and rehabilitation support staff, with demonstrated clinical leadership
• Strong background in patient evaluation, treatment planning, and documentation
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and policy/procedure oversight in rehab services
• Membership in AOTA preferred
• Comfortable balancing clinical caseload with administrative and program development responsibilities

Education

• Graduate of a school of Occupational Therapy approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Deep knowledge of occupational therapy principles, evaluation, and treatment
• Clinical supervision and competency assessment skills
• Skilled in documentation, discharge planning, and regulatory compliance
• Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures for quality care
• Strong communication and team leadership skills
• Experience with program development and administrative oversight
