Roles & Responsibilities
- Prepare patient treatment rooms and ensure all dental instruments are properly sterilized and organized
- Assist the dentist during procedures by skillfully passing instruments and maintaining a clear field of vision
- Take and develop dental x-rays using proper safety protocols to keep patients comfortable
- Provide warm, compassionate chairside support to help patients feel at ease
- Accurately document treatment details and assist in updating patient records
- Reinforce oral hygiene instructions and post-treatment care recommendations with patients
Qualifications
- A warm, patient-first attitude with excellent communication skills
- Prior experience as a Dental Assistant is preferred; formal training or a diploma from an accredited dental assisting program is a plus
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred
- New York radiography (x-ray) certification or willingness to obtain it
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced dental environment while keeping a positive, team-oriented mindset
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid knowledge of dental terminology and chairside assisting techniques
- Comfort with dental software and patient management systems
- Understanding of infection control practices and OSHA standards
- Skill in anticipating the dentist's needs and assisting without needing direction
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
