Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver hands-on occupational therapy assistance to help patients regain independence in daily activities
• Collaborate with OTs, nurses, and the rehab team to develop and execute individualized care plans
• Provide skilled therapeutic interventions and monitor progress toward functional goals
• Document patient status, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely in the medical record
• Educate patients and caregivers on home programs, safety techniques, and adaptive equipment
• Maintain treatment areas and equipment, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment

Qualifications

• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential (required)
• Active state licensure or ability to obtain Maryland authorization as applicable
• Strong clinical skills in ADL retraining, therapeutic activities, and assistive device training
• Comfortable working within an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team
• Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
• Reliable, compassionate, and patient-focused with excellent communication skills

Education

• Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant or related field (typical requirement)

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of occupational therapy techniques for mobility, ADLs, and functional recovery
• Skilled in patient assessment, safe transfer techniques, and therapeutic exercise
• Familiarity with documenting in electronic medical records
• Ability to adapt interventions to meet diverse patient needs and cognitive levels
• Strong time management and organizational skills to manage caseloads effectively
• Excellent interpersonal skills for coaching patients and collaborating with team members
