Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-acuity step-down and progressive care to a 3:1 patient ratio in a fast-paced Medical Intermediate Care Unit.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and telemetry, responding quickly to changes in patient status.
• Administer and titrate IV drips such as dopamine, dobutamine, nitro, cardene, ketamine, heparin, Cardizem, and amiodarone.
• Perform comprehensive physical assessments, intake/output monitoring, and hourly safety rounds.
• Manage trach patients requiring BiPap or long-term ventilator support, and provide CIWA assessments for alcohol/drug withdrawal treatment.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team during rapid responses, ED admissions, and ICU transfers, ensuring seamless bedside handoffs.

Qualifications

• Active, permanent Alaska RN license required at time of submission (temporary licenses not accepted).
• Must complete Alaska fingerprinting during onboarding to be cleared for work.
• ACLS, BLS, and NIH-SS certifications required.
• Minimum 1 year of step-down ICU/IMC/PCU experience required.
• Minimum 1 year of telemetry/cardiac monitoring experience required.
• Preferred: experience with trach patients on continuous BiPap/long-term vent support, titratable drips, and CIWA assessments.

• Expertise in step-down and progressive care nursing
• Skilled in telemetry and cardiac monitoring
• Proficient with EPIC EMR
• Confident managing titratable IV infusions
• Knowledge of CIWA assessments and withdrawal protocols
• Ability to adapt to quickly changing acuity and high patient throughput
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
