Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to patients in the Step-Down Unit
Assess and monitor patient status closely, identifying changes early and acting decisively
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans
Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments accurately and safely
Document patient care thoroughly and communicate clear handoffs during shift changes
Educate patients and families about their conditions, care plans, and discharge instructions
Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives to elevate care

Qualifications

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or eligibility for licensure
BLS required; ACLS preferred
Experience in a Step-Down Unit, telemetry, or critical care setting preferred
Strong clinical judgment, prioritization, and communication skills
Current CPR certification

Education

ASN or BSN from an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

Patient assessment and ongoing monitoring
Cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation
IV therapy and medication administration
Electronic medical record documentation
Effective team communication and care coordination
Prioritization, critical thinking, and time management
