Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for surgical procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety
• Review patient medical histories, assess vital signs, and document pre-operative data
• Start IVs and administer pre-operative medications as ordered
• Collaborate with the surgical team to coordinate seamless patient care
• Educate patients and their families about what to expect during the surgical process
• Maintain a clean, sterile, and organized pre-op environment

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
• BLS certification required (ACLS preferred)
• Previous pre-op, PACU, or surgical nursing experience preferred
• Strong critical thinking and communication skills
• Ability to work flexible per diem shifts

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of pre-operative nursing protocols and patient assessment
• Proficient in IV insertion, medication administration, and documentation
• Knowledge of sterile techniques and patient safety standards
• Comfortable using electronic health records (EHR)
• Compassionate bedside manner and excellent patient education skills
