Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert post-anesthesia nursing care to patients recovering from surgery and procedures
• Monitor vital signs, airway patency, and level of consciousness during recovery
• Administer medications and interventions as ordered, managing pain and nausea
• Assess patients for complications and respond quickly to changes in condition
• Educate patients and families on discharge instructions and post-operative care
• Document patient progress accurately and collaborate with the care team

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• ACLS certification preferred
• Previous PACU, critical care, or emergency nursing experience preferred
• Ability to make quick decisions and work independently
• Strong communication and patient advocacy skills

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of post-anesthesia nursing protocols
• Strong assessment and monitoring skills
• Proficiency in administering IV medications and pain management
• Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms and vital sign changes
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Compassionate patient care and family communication
