Contract Type: Travel Contract

Shift Type: Night shift; schedule varies (deferred), with 8, 10, or 16-hour shift options; must be willing to work assigned shifts including weekends and holidays, no block scheduling

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $47 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Provide expert nursing care to a high-acuity surgery trauma population, including patients with gunshot wounds, quadriplegia, and paraplegia
  • Collaborate with ED nurses and the admitting unit to ensure seamless, safe patient handoffs
  • Manage a 5:1 patient ratio with robust support from nursing support techs, phlebotomists, and night unit secretaries
  • Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately using EPIC
  • Respond quickly and compassionately to complex trauma patients and their families
  • Work as a vital part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care

Qualifications

  • Active Registered Nurse license in Georgia (or compact state)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience in a surgery trauma or high-acuity setting
  • Current BLS certification (AHA required)
  • ACLS certification preferred
  • Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records required
  • Willingness to work assigned shifts with no block scheduling and no RTO
  • Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced trauma environment

Knowledge & Skills

  • Knowledge of high-acuity trauma nursing, including spinal cord injuries and post-op surgical care
  • Skilled in EPIC documentation and charting
  • Ability to stay calm and focused during emergencies
  • Clear communication and teamwork across disciplines
  • Understanding of trauma patient populations and their unique physical and emotional needs
  • Comfort with a fast-paced, high-stakes hospital environment
