Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert post-anesthesia care to pediatric patients recovering from surgery
• Monitor vital signs, airway patency, and consciousness levels during recovery
• Assess and manage pain, nausea, and other post-operative symptoms
• Educate and support families as their child wakes up from anesthesia
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and the care team to ensure smooth recovery
• Document patient progress accurately and maintain a safe environment

Qualifications

• Current and unencumbered Oregon RN license (or compact state license)
• BLS certification required; PALS certification strongly preferred
• Previous PACU, critical care, or pediatric nursing experience preferred
• Ability to respond quickly and calmly in emergency situations
• Compassionate bedside manner with children and families

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of anesthesia recovery phases and complications
• Skilled in pediatric vital sign assessment and monitoring equipment
• Excellent communication skills with patients, families, and team members
• Ability to prioritize care in a fast-paced environment
• Proficient with electronic health records (EHR) and documentation
