Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the orthodontist during exams and procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and treatment rooms to maintain a safe, hygienic environment
- Take and develop dental x-rays and impressions with precision and care
- Educate patients and families on oral hygiene and orthodontic treatment
- Manage patient records, treatment plans, and appointments accurately
- Fabricate and adjust braces, retainers, and other orthodontic appliances
Qualifications
- Active Maryland dental assistant certification or eligibility to obtain one
- Experience in orthodontics is a plus, but a strong willingness to learn is essential
- Radiation Health and Safety certification or ability to get certified
- Excellent communication skills and a caring, patient-first approach
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced clinical setting
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of dental terminology and orthodontic procedures
- Comfort with dental software and digital x-ray systems
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Empathy and a genuine passion for helping patients achieve healthy smiles
- Attention to infection control and safety protocols
