Shift Type: 4 x 8-hour day shifts per week (exact days and times TBD by facility), 32-hour guarantee. Weekend call: 1 weekend per month. Weekday call: 2-3 days per week. Call-back time: within one hour.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide safe and effective perioperative nursing care in both circulating and scrubbing roles
• Assist in a variety of surgical specialties including general surgery, urology, ophthalmology, podiatry, pain, and endoscopy
• Deliver specialized care to adult and geriatric patients in a small OR facility with two operating rooms and a procedure room
• Prepare operating rooms, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Participate in on-call rotations for weekend and weekday surgical emergencies
• Document patient care accurately in Cerner EMR

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-5 years of surgical nursing experience
• Active Vermont RN license (or eligibility to obtain)
• Proven scrubbing and circulating experience (both checklists required)
• Cataract surgery experience (non-negotiable)
• Experience with Cerner EMR
• Phase I/PACU experience
• Experience in a smaller OR facility
• Must have reliable personal vehicle (no public transport in area)
• Travel experience and BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of perioperative nursing principles and sterile technique
• Ability to quickly adapt to a variety of surgical specialties
• Proficient in electronic medical records, specifically Cerner
• Excellent critical thinking and communication skills
• Capable of working independently in a small facility
• Compassionate care for adult and geriatric patients
