Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist surgeons during a variety of procedures including laparoscopic, bariatric, ortho, neuro, uro, GYN, and ENT cases, providing first-assist exposure, hemostasis, and tissue handling
• Collaborate with the surgical team to maintain a sterile field and ensure patient safety throughout the intraoperative period
• Provide preoperative and postoperative care in the pre/post-op area as needed to support continuity of care
• Respond to on-call emergencies within 30 minutes, ensuring timely surgical intervention for urgent cases
• Utilize Cerner EMR to accurately document intraoperative records and patient information
• Mentor and support OR staff, sharing your expertise in perioperative nursing and surgical assisting

Qualifications

• Active California RN license required
• Minimum of 2 years of perioperative/OR experience
• ACLS and BLS (AHA) certifications required
• CNOR (Certified Perioperative Nurse) certification required via CCI
• RNFA specialty experience strongly preferred
• Scrubbing experience preferred
• Cerner EMR experience preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of surgical instruments, sterile technique, and OR protocols
• Familiarity with laparoscopic, bariatric, ortho, neuro, uro, GYN, and ENT procedures
• Ability to respond to call within 30 minutes and manage emergency situations
• Proficient with Cerner charting system and Phillips telemetry monitoring
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff
