Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to ED hold patients awaiting placement, primarily medical-surgical and telemetry patients.
• Monitor telemetry continuously and interpret cardiac strips to detect changes in patient status.
• Titrate cardiac drips such as Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone per physician orders and parameters.
• Collaborate with ED charge nurse and PCTs to ensure patient safety and timely interventions.
• Assist with ED patient care including vitals, IV starts, and medication administration when needed.
• Float to med/surg/tele/overflow units and CRMC/MGMC EDs as needed to support staffing.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Arizona or compact state (license to submit required).
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of strong cardiac telemetry experience; ED holds/MS/Tele background preferred.
• Ability to pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to start (2 attempts max) and a pass/fail SIM lab on day one.
• Experience titrating cardiac drips including Cardizem, Heparin, and Amiodarone.
• Previous travel experience not required.

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of telemetry monitoring and ECG interpretation.
• Proficient in cardiac drip management and titration.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced ED environment with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio.
• Familiarity with Cerner charting system.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
