Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, expert nursing care to low- and high-risk obstetric patients throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery in a Level III NICU facility.
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using Cerner EMR and Fetal Link surveillance, stepping in quickly when interventions are needed.
• Support patients and families through childbirth, including couplet care for moms and newborns.
• Collaborate with an in-house laborist and a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe deliveries and positive outcomes.
• Assist with OR and PACU duties as part of the Family Birth Center team, maintaining readiness for cesarean sections and emergencies.
• Float to Pediatrics or NICU for feeder/grower care when you have the experience, adding variety and teamwork.
• Participate in ongoing education and unit initiatives, including passing a proctored dysrhythmia test on day one.

Qualifications

• Active California RN license required to submit
• 2+ years of experience in Labor and Delivery or a related maternal-child setting
• Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Advanced AWHONN certifications
• Advanced Fetal Monitoring skills, with proficiency in Cerner and Fetal Link EMR systems
• Ability to pass a proctored dysrhythmia test on site day one
• COVID-19 vaccination required per facility policy

Education

• BSN not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong fetal monitoring interpretation and response
• Knowledge of California nurse-to-patient ratios in L&D and postpartum
• Comfort with high-risk deliveries and immediate newborn care
• Familiarity with Cerner charting and Fetal Link surveillance
• Collaboration and communication across nursing, physicians, and support staff
• Flexibility to float to Peds and NICU for appropriate patient assignments
